Media

All media representatives MUST have an application turned in and approved to participate as Media for the Tribal Journeys Canoe Landing by July 9th.

Media Program – The Landing, July 19

  • Accredited media representatives are welcome to attend the Landing activities on July 19 at Front Beach in Neah Bay. Program details will be posted on the website (www.paddletomakah.org) by June 30, 2010. More information will be mailed as it comes available.
  • Media representatives will be positioned in defined area on site to ensure access to the landing protocol procedures.
  • Media representatives will be required to check in with the on-site Media Coordinator upon arrival.

Conditions

  • By signing this application, media representative applicant agrees to abide by all rules, regulations, and codes established by the Makah Tribal Journey Committee, Makah Tribe and other applicable entities.
  • Makah Tribal Canoe Journeys Executive Committee has the right to deny any Media representative application if deemed unacceptable.
  • Media are required to submit appropriate credentials as part of their registration application as part of their registration application including a photocopy or scan of official press credentials and a letter of assignment from the media organization being represented, business cards or membership cards from news media, communications, or writers’ organizations are not sufficient to establish eligibility.
    • Independent television production companies are required to provide a letter outlining the confirmed broadcast plans for their work.
    • Freelance media are required to media are required to submit an official letter of assignment form a news organization or magazine.
    • Online media must submit a similar documentation verifying the intended use of the content collected from Tribal Journeys 2010

Security

  • For security reasons, only accredited media representatives will be provided access to the Landing Site.
  • Upon registering, media representatives agree to follow the protocols outlined by Tribal Journeys and respect the directions of the traditions of Tribal Journeys.
  • Specific events, dances and protocols are sacred. During specified events, photos and video will not be permitted. You will be notified what can and cannot be recorded or photographed.
  • The Makah Tribe and/or the Makah Tribal Canoe Journey Committee will not be responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged property of media representatives.
  • The Neah Bay Public Safety will be present during the event. If there is a need to contact the NBPD, you may contact them at 360-645-2701.

Limit of Liability

  • Media personnel must agree to the terms of the Makah Tribal Canoe Journey Committee Media Application.
  • Media personnel must agree to assume all responsibility for activities as media and agree that they do not have any claim against the Makah Tribe, for injury, damages to, and/or lost or stolen property. Media personnel further agree to hold the Makah Tribe, its officers, employees, Tribal Canoe Journey Volunteers, harmless from all suits, claims, or liabilities of any nature on account of injuries or damages sustained by any person or property resulting in whole or in part from any activities as Media under this application/permit.
  • Breaking and/or ignoring any of the rules will result in an escorted removal from the Makah Reservation.
